CNN's national security analyst Peter Bergen twice suggested that "right-wing extremists" could be behind Monday's Boston Marathon bombings. Yet over an hour later, CNN reported that Boston Police were not holding anyone in custody as a suspect for the attack.
Let’s be clear: at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday when we posted this article, no one in an official position knows, (or at least is saying) who is behind the Boston Marathon bombings and what their motivation might have been. But that hasn’t stopped the leftists in the establishment media from trying to pin it on -- or at least use the bombings to tar -- conservative opponents of big government. Just hours after explosions rocked the Boston Marathon on Monday, even as other outlets were reporting a Saudi national as a “person of interest,” MSNBC’s Chris Matthews speculated, "Normally domestic terrorists, people, tend to be on the far right."
David Axelrod said this: “I’m sure what was going through the president’s mind is — we really don’t know who did this — it was tax day.”

MSNBC featured author Adam Lankford on Tuesday to wonder about the "message" of the Boston bomber. Was it to "complain about abortion, about taxes?" The guest, labeled a "MSNBC analyst," guessed, "This did happen on tax day in Boston, the place of the Tea Party."

Appearing on MSNBC’s Martin Bashir on April 16, fill-in host Thomas Roberts brought on Harvard’s Jessica Stern to make predictions about who might have initiated the terrorist attack on April 15: "It's also important to recognize that the recipe was shared and lauded by storm front, which is a neo-Nazi website. And the whole idea of leaderless, which comes out of the far right neo-Nazi patriot movement also spread over to al-Qaeda-related groups."

A CNN.com article by Tim Lister and Paul Cruickshank asserted without evidence that the use of pressure cookers in bomb construction is "a recipe that has been adopted by extreme right-wing individuals in the United States."

"The thinking, as we have been reporting, is that this is a domestic, extremist attack and officials are leaning that way largely because of the timing of the attack. April is a big month for anti-government and right-wing individuals. There's the Columbine anniversary, there's Hitler's birthday, there's the Oklahoma City bombing, the assault on the Branch Davidian compound in Waco." -NPR correspondent Dina Temple-Raston

Actor and comedian Jay Mohr waded into the gun debate on Twitter after Monday’s deadly terrorist attacks at the Boston Marathon. “What bothers me most about today is that we’re getting used 2 it. ENOUGH. 2nd amendment must go. Violence has 2 stop. Culture MUST change,” the Jerry Maguire actor tweeted Monday night.

“I’ll bet good money it’s a right-wing nutjob. Today is April 15, Boston Harbor was where the original Tea Party took place and the on-going gun-safety legislation makes it the mostly likely culprit,” commenter Linda Ginsburg wrote.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews theorized this evening that the bombing in Boston today might be the result of a Tax Day protest – as it occurred on the deadline date for filing federal income taxes. “As you point out, and I just forgot, I filed already. It’s filing day for the federal income tax, which does cause some emotions around the country – sometimes in the wrong parts of the brain anyway,” Matthews said during his show.
