“We do not pay ransom. We didn’t here, and we won’t in the future.”
Perhaps the president can take some solace, thin as it is, in the fact that nobody believed him, anyway. The lie fell apart Thursday when The Wall Street Journal reported that the money was withheld until the hostages were actually free, and provided details of how the swap took place. Rarely has a president been caught in such a big and brazen lie. -Wesley Pruden
One of the strangest incidents of the 2012 presidential campaign was when then-Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid accused then-Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney of having not paid any taxes over the past decade. That Reid made that allegation from the floor of the Senate made it even odder. The problem with Reid's allegation? It's just not true...
Yet Reid (D-Nev.) not only refuses to retract the allegation but also seems to take great pride in it. -Chris Cillizza
Democratic presidential hopeful Bernard Sanders’ economic plan triggered Gmail’s “phishing scam” antenna, with the mail system saying the senator’s liberal campaign promises — including lower prescription drug prices and free college for all — sound like frauds. -Stephen Dinan
Charlie Crist Calls Hillary Clinton
Democrat, Liberal, Oops, Corruption
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling the Democratic National Committee’s email scandal an “embarrassment to the nation” after leaks showed the party actively
favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, and adds she was flummoxed by Clinton bringing the DNC chief who resigned in disgrace into her campaign.
“What happened over at the Democratic national party should not have happened,” Warren told WCVB (Ch. 5) in an interview aired yesterday. “It is an embarrassment to the party and it is an embarrassment to the nation.”

Key assertions by Hillary Clinton in defense of her email practices have collapsed under FBI scrutiny. The agency's yearlong investigation found that she did not, as she claimed, turn over all her work-related messages for release. It found that her private email server did carry classified emails, also contrary to her past statements. And it made clear that Clinton used many devices to send and receive email despite her statements that she set up her email system so that she only needed to carry one.

President Barack Obama made a major political mistake by lying about the details of his health care plan, according to former House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.). "The rollout was so bad, and I was appalled -- I don't understand how the president could have sat there and not been checking on that on a weekly basis," Frank told HuffPost during a July interview.
"But frankly, he should never have said as much as he did, that if you like your current health care plan, you can keep it. That wasn't true. And you shouldn't lie to people. And they just lied to people."

At 11:12 p.m. on September 11, 2012, the night of the attacks, Hillary Clinton wrote to her daughter, Chelsea, and noted that the compound in Benghazi had been attacked by “an al Quaeda-like group.” -Stephen F. Hayes

A Democratic state lawmaker says some of his colleagues told him to keep quiet allegations of sexual harassment and assault against a fellow legislator to protect the party's majority in upcoming elections. After WFPL News reported the accusations against state Rep. John Arnold, D-Sturgis, early Wednesday, Rep. Tom Riner, D-Louisville, took to the House floor to speak out against what he described as a culture of intimidation and sexism in the legislature.
Krauthammer said that when Secretary of State John Kerry and other officials pushed the deal on the public, "they were spinning beyond spinning -- they were lying." He pointed to provisions within the deal on ballistic missiles and accountability about Iran's past military activity which he said never materialized. "There was lying point by point, all the way through. That's not spin, that's lying."

1999-02-06 04:00:00 PST Washington -- A proposed resolution of censure of President Clinton drafted by Democratic senators assails his misconduct as "shameless, reckless and indefensible," and concludes that the president "gave false or misleading testimony and impeded discovery of evidence in judicial proceedings." The two-page proposal, which is still being revised, also states that Clinton "deliberately misled and deceived the American people" and underscores that the president "remains subject to criminal and civil actions."

You Can Keep Your Health Plan And Your Doctors
"I learned how important it is to present a plan that's clear and easy to understand... This is not government run. There will be no new bureaucracies. You can keep the doctors you know and trust. You keep the insurance you have if you like it. But this plan expands personal choice and increases competition to keep costs down."
