Berkeley Anti-Free Speech Riot: February 2017

"We won this night. We will control the streets. We will liberate the land. We will fight fascists. We will dismantle the state. This is war." -Liberals succeed in shutting down speech

If violence is what it takes for the Left to prevail, then violence we will have. You saw it, and you were meant to. Berkeley was a message about the price of dissent where leftist hold sway. And they seek to hold sway everywhere. -Kurt Schlichter Go To Site

Berkeley (which voted 90 percent for Hillary Clinton, 5 percent for Jill Stein and 3 percent for Donald Trump) seems to be taking the same approach to organized masked black-clad thugs that Italian authorities took to Mussolini's Brownshirts and Weimar Republic authorities took to Hitler's Brownshirts. If fascist violence is thriving and unpunished anywhere in America, it's in Berkeley. -Michael Barone Go To Site

Look at all these liberal Berkeley snowflakes. They're intolerant of speech...

"It allows people on the right to say, 'Look at all these liberal Berkeley snowflakes. They're intolerant of speech.' I don't think it's productive at all. It does nothing to help this country."

"What we’ve got to do is fight in Congress, fight in the courts, fight in the streets, fight online, fight at the ballot box, and now there’s the momentum to be able to do this. "

A female supporter of Republican President Donald Trump was pepper-sprayed during an on-camera interview with KGO-TV amid rioting at the University of California, Berkeley, Wednesday night. “I’m looking to make a statement by just being here, and I think the protesters are doing the same,” Kiara Robles told the reporter. “Props to the ones who are doing it non-violently, but I think that’s a very rare thing indeed.” Seconds later, she was hit with the pepper spray.

Leftists Justify The Violence At Berkeley

Where liberals remind us that you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

A peaceful protest was not going to cancel that event, just like numerous letters from faculty, staff, Free Speech Movement veterans and even donors did not cancel the event.

We were not, as the news, the chancellor and concerned progressives have alleged, “unaffiliated white anarchists.”

Behind those bandanas and black T-shirts were the faces of your fellow UC Berkeley and Berkeley City College students, of women, of people of color, of queer and trans people. But All The Nonviolent Tactics Were Exhausted...

But when you consider everything that activists already tried — when mass call-ins, faculty and student objections, letter-writing campaigns, numerous op-eds (including mine), union grievances and peaceful demonstrations don’t work, when the nonviolent tactics have been exhausted — what is left?

...You are what's Left, Neil.

Desmond, we concede. You win.

Don’t play “Who’s The Real Fascist?” with me because fascists win that game every time.

Leftists Did What They Had To Do To Shut Down Speech...

Was the “violence” Wednesday night justified? I am of the opinion that it was the plurality of tactics employed Wednesday evening that contributed to the success of the cancellation of the talk.

...it's not like this will set a precedent or something.

Protests that erupted at UC Berkeley ahead of a planned Wednesday appearance by right-wing commentator Milo Yiannopoulos caused $100,000 worth of damage to the campus, the school said Thursday. The university blamed "150 masked agitators" for the unrest, saying they had come to campus to disturb an otherwise peaceful protest. Two Berkeley College Republicans "were attacked while conducting an interview" on the campus on Thursday, UC Berkeley also said in a prepared statement.

Six days ago Berkeley College Republican Naweed Tahmas feared for his safety — all because he helped organize a campus talk by a gay immigrant... It got worse as he and his peers sheltered in place as fire bombs were thrown at the building.

And now Tahmas said he’s been told to watch his back because he may get jumped, and an Antifa affiliate has also threatened to publish the names and contact information of those sympathetic to Milo’s visit, called “doxing.”

As the protesters began to light fires around the building, Tahmas recalls thinking that “they [were trying] to burn the building with us in it.” “I don’t think they would have had any regrets burning us alive,” Tahmas told The Fix. “We were basically like cattle. The protesters shouted, ‘We’re going to burn and shut your shit down.’”

Today, some persons who claim to oppose fascism have started using fascist techniques, such as blockading roads and other modes of transit into the city, perpetrating violence against those who disagree with them politically, and using fear to suppress those who have different political views.

But using fascist techniques is never right, and if you just removed “we will fight the fascists” from the Occupy Oakland tweet, it could be easily mistaken for a quote from Benito Mussolini, Francisco Franco, or Adolf Hitler. -Tyler Stone Go To Site
