Members of MS-13 and other gangs are slipping across the southern border, hidden in the waves of thousands of Mexican and Central American migrants who continue to surge into the US.
Border Patrol officials detained five gang members in the last week near frontier crossings at Laredo, TX., said US Border Patrol Agent Chief Matthew Hudak in a tweet Friday.
“They attempt to evade arrest by exploiting the influx of migrants attempting to enter our country,” Hudak tweeted.

A new federal report shows non-citizens in the United States commit nearly half of all federal crimes, or more than six times their proportion to the American population.
For 2017, data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Surveyshows non-citizens comprise about 7 percent of the country’s population, but the 2018 Annual Report and Sourcebook of Federal Sentencing Statistics shows they committed more than 40 percent of all federal crimes...
Statistics were similar for violations of national defense, with 30 percent of cases involving non-citizens, as well as money laundering at 27 percent, drug trafficking at 24 percent and murder at 18 percent. Other crimes committed at higher rates include kidnapping, fraud/theft/embezzlement, extortion/racketeering, burglary, assault, “commercialized vice,” and environmental crimes, among others.

The woman who was charged with confronting a man wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat inside a Falmouth Mexican restaurant was taken into custody by ICE. The department said she was in the country illegally.
Police said Rosiane Santos walked by Bryton Turner as he was eating dinner at Casa Vallarta and knocked the hat off his head. She then allegedly confronted him verbally.

Federal authorities this week arrested an illegal immigrant from Guatemala on charges of distributing child pornography videos through Facebook. Prosecutors said Samuel Mendez-Garcia was reported in April by Facebook and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who spotted and confirmed the videos, then alerted police in Rhode Island.
The criminal complaint filed Tuesday includes stomach-churning details of prepubescent girls and boys forced into sexual activities with adults.

Seven suspects who were arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in Texas over the weekend have been identified as Mexican nationals that were in the U.S. illegally.

When officers responded to the home of Abigail Hernandez on February 20, they said they found a shotgun inside the home... Hernandez was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat...
As officers were investigating, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents determined Hernandez was an illegal immigrant who was in the United States under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Police at the University of Connecticut have arrested a former student with 103 counts of criminal mischief for scrawling graffiti all over campus from December to March. The former student — and current community organizer — is an illegal immigrant named Eric Cruz-Lopez, reports the Hartford Courant. Some instances of the graffiti featured the words “Fuck Trump” and cartoonish faces, according to police.

While illegal immigrants account for about 3.5 percent of the U.S population, they represented 36.7 percent of federal sentences in FY 2014 following criminal convictions, according to U.S. Sentencing Commission data obtained by Breitbart News... Broken down by some of the primary offenses, illegal immigrants represented 16.8 percent of drug trafficking cases, 20.0 percent of kidnapping/hostage taking, 74.1 percent of drug possession, 12.3 percent of money laundering, and 12.0 percent of murder convictions.
According to the analysis conducted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, foreign aliens committed 611,234 unique crimes in Texas from 2008 to 2014, including thousands of homicides and sexual assaults. Most of the illegal immigrant criminals Homeland Security officials released from custody last year were discretionary, meaning the department could have kept them in detention but chose instead to let them onto the streets as their deportation cases moved through the system, according to new numbers from Congress. Some of those released were the worst of the worst — more than 3,700 “Threat Level 1” criminals, who are deemed the top priority for deportation, were still released out into the community even as they waited for their immigration cases to be heard.
Crime is so high along the Mexican border that nearly half of all the criminal cases filed by federal prosecutors in the United States last fiscal year were concentrated in a handful of districts located in that region, according to the U.S. government’s figures... Of the 61,529 criminal cases initiated by federal prosecutors last fiscal year, more than 40%—or 24,746—were filed in court districts neighboring the Mexican border. This includes Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, Western Texas and Southern Texas.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency has announced the number of illegal aliens deported during fiscal year 2012, including 1,215 individuals who were convicted of homicide and 5,557 who were convicted of sexual offenses.... In all, 409,849 individuals were deported, according to ICE. Of these, approximately 55 percent, or 225,390 of the people removed, were convicted of felonies.

An illegal immigrant living in Navarre who was accused of illegally selling military items, such as flight helmets, advanced night vision goggles and body armor, to foreign buyers has pleaded guilty to federal charges. Martyn Caulfield, 55, of the 1900 block of Flamingo Lane is charged with two counts of illegally exporting defense technology or articles without a license, possession of firearms by an illegal alien and two counts of money laundering.

An illegal immigrant living in Taylor County has been charged with prostituting underage girls. Adulfo De Aquino-Cancino, 28, allegedly recruited girls to take part in prostitution, arranged sexual encounters for them and took them places to engage in sex for money, according to a news release from David J. Hale, federal prosecutor for the western half of Kentucky.

A special tactical team operating along the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas saved a 6-month-old baby who had been thrown off a raft into the Rio Grande River by smugglers. The Texas Department of Public Safety, who shared the rescue mission, said the incident occurred on March 16 when the specialized group—South Texas Special Operations Group—was assisting U.S. Border Patrol agents in Roma...
The child’s mother had been assaulted by smugglers in Mexico and had her leg broken in the attack, the department said. The incident occurred amid a surge of illegal border crossings at the U.S. southern border, in particular by unaccompanied minors.
