April 2010: “Some time in the next couple of months we’re going to be creating between 250,000 jobs a month and 500,000 jobs a month,” Biden said at a fundraiser today in Pittsburgh. Next month, Biden predicted, the nation’s employers will add between 100,000 to 200,000 jobs to their payrolls.

Jon Stewart mocks Biden's 'Recovery Summer'

Last night on "The Daily Show," Stewart recalled Vice President Joe Biden referring to summer 2010 as an economy booster, dubbing it the "Summer of Recovery," only to have home sales plummet to an all-time low, 54,000 jobs lost, and unemployment hovering around 9.6%. "So the 'Summer of Recovery' is quickly sliding into the 'Autumn of Nothing but Ramen Noodles For Dinner,'" Stewart said.

Just moments ago, President Obama gave a speech urging Congress to extend the payroll tax cut for another year by hiking taxes on job creators. What’s funny about this speech (aside from the claim it wasn’t political) is that the President claimed that “we’re not fully out of the recession yet.”

SEPT 2010: This morning, the Department of Labor announced that the unemployment rate climbed from 9.5 percent in July to 9.6 percent in August, as economy-wide lack of demand kept businesses fromhiring new workers. Some economists expected a worse report, and the August data offers more evidence of a stall-out in the recovery.
