Ever since Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez shot and killed Kate Steinle on a warm July evening as she strolled along Pier 14 with her father, San Francisco's Sanctuary City policy has enraged swaths of the rest of America. Lopez-Sanchez, you see, had been convicted of multiple felonies and deported five times. -Debra Saunders Go To Site

He said he was being true to a 2013 Sanctuary City ordinance that directed law enforcement not to cooperate with detainer requests except for individuals with a violent felony conviction in the last seven years. Weeks later, Lopez-Sanchez shot Steinle with a gun stolen from a federal agent. Claiming that the shooting was an accident, Lopez-Sanchez has pleaded not guilty. -Debra Saunders Go To Site

Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson says the alleged murder of 33-year-old Newman, California police officer Ronil Singh “would have been prevented” if not for California’s “sanctuary state” law that shields criminal illegal aliens from deportation.

Gustavo Perez Arriaga, an illegal alien living in California, was arrested on Friday after he allegedly shot and killed Singh — a legal immigrant from Fiji — during a routine traffic stop the day after Christmas.

Over his police radio, Singh called out “shots fired” and as police arrived at the scene of the traffic stop, they found the officer on the ground with a gunshot wound. Singh was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Despite a request from federal immigration officials, the Denver Sheriff Department this week refused to detain an undocumented immigrant who was arrested Sunday in connection with a fatal hit and run.

The crash between a semi-truck and a pickup truck on Interstate 70 killed the driver of the semi and caused a fire that closed the roadway in both directions for several hours.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents requested that the department detain the pickup truck's driver, Ivan Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, so they could take him into custody. But Denver stopped honoring detention requests from ICE in 2014, FOX 31 reported.

The man arrested in connection with the seemingly random killing of a woman who was out for a stroll with her father along the San Francisco waterfront is an illegal immigrant who previously had been deported five times, federal immigration officials say. Further, Immigration and Customs Enforcement says San Francisco had him in their custody earlier this year but failed to notify ICE when he was released. ... The incident is sure to renew criticism of San Francisco's sanctuary city policies. "Here's a jurisdiction that's not even honoring our detainer for someone who clearly is an egregious offender," an ICE official told FoxNews.com.

Judicial Watch announced today it obtained records from the San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department revealing that violent crime in the Bay area has skyrocketed since 2011, with the number of arrests for murder up 55%, and the number of arrests for rapes up 370%... In 2013, the San Francisco’s Sheriff and City Council expanded San Francisco’s infamous illegal alien sanctuary policies. The City changed policies and passed an ordinance that required San Francisco law enforcement to ignore most U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers.

Within 24 hours, Gustavo Garcia would kill one, injure at least six others, rob thousands of dollars from a convenience store and lead a wrong-way chase down a busy highway in a stolen truck, according to police, who believe he may also have been responsible for a second homicide that is still under investigation.

Now, the area’s top law enforcement official is placing the blame on California’s controversial “sanctuary state” law, known as Senate Bill 54, or the California Values Act. Garcia had previously been deported and was arrested just days before his violent rampage, Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux told reporters Wednesday. But because of the law, he said, his officers were unable to coordinate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
