John Kerry, President Joe Biden's new climate czar, took a private jet to accept an environmental award in Iceland in 2019. "It's the only choice for somebody like me, who is traveling the world to win this battle," he unironically told a reporter when asked about it.
If this sounds like a clueless joke, it's not. President Biden's chief environmental officer took the least carbon-efficient means of travel known to man because it was "the only choice" he could think of for a member in good standing of the indulged upper classes.

But according to Italian press reports, the attendees were expected to show up in 114 private jets, and 40 had arrived by Sunday.
The Post crunched the numbers and found that 114 flights from Los Angeles to Palermo, Italy, where Camp guests landed, would spew an estimated 100,000 kilograms of CO2 into the air.

Hypocrisy is nothing new to celebrities and politicians that make the push to go green. First, it was John Travolta, preaching about the catastrophic consequences global warming with five (yes, five) private jets that he likes to fly for ‘business purposes’.

Despite his environmentally-conscious stance on green issues, the Black Eyed Peas rapper, 37, chose to take a private helicopter to the venue. It is understood the journey, which is a 286 mile round-trip from London, used 71.5 gallons of fuel and released three-quarters of a ton of CO2 into the atmosphere. He even tweeted pictures of the so-called “hip.hop.copter” for fans to admire, after landing at the Oxford's University Parks. From there, the singer used a pedal cycle to travel the remaining few hundred yards to the Radcliffe Observatory Weather Centre.

"Yes, I take a private plane on holiday a couple of times a year, and I feel horribly guilty about it. I probably shouldn't do it. But the truth is, I'm not perfect. This is not about perfection. I don't expect anybody else to be perfect either. That's what hurts the environmental movement - holding people to a standard they cannot meet. That just pushes people away."

Leonardo DiCaprio, who is urging the world to go "green," insisted yesterday that he is not a do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do hypocrite because he takes the occasional gas-guzzling private jet... "We're all trying the best we can; truly, we really are," he said.

The big threat from the scaling-up of space travel, they say, comes from something called black carbon—a type of particulate matter that, when hurled into the stratosphere, builds up for years, absorbing visible light from the sun. According to one study, black carbon emitted into the stratosphere by rockets would absorb 100,000 times as much energy as the CO2 emitted by those rockets. "There's one issue and it's simple: you don't want to put black carbon in the stratosphere. Period," says Darin Toohey, a professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Hypocrisy is the vice we find hardest to forgive, but it’s also the one we most enjoy discovering in others. And nothing piques our interest more than eco-hypocrisy as practised by the “green” celebrities who have been spouting green virtue but spewing out hundreds of tons of carbon from their private jets or multiple holiday homes around the globe.

Driving would have taken almost three hours but a private jet took just over one. So it was a no-brainer for Madonna, who chartered her own airline for a trip home from a Birmingham concert to London last Wednesday, according to new reports in The Sun newspaper.
The decision enraged environmental activists, as well as her loyal followers who accused the 57-year-old Unapologetic singer of being a 'hypocrite' for increasing her carbon footprint when she herself campaigns to help the climate crisis.
It was Abedin who emailed Clinton in July 2009 to ask her about her preferred travel arrangements when a private jet wasn't available as planned. What to do? Wait an extra three hours for a 19-passenger Gulfstream III aircraft, or settle for the six-seat Learjet that's fueled and ready? 'The g3 is delayed till 5pm wheels up,' Abedin wrote her. 'There is a lear available at 2pm with 6 seats. Do u want to just leave at 5?' -David Martosko
