Rezko also cultivated Obama, right from the beginning of his political career. He provided the seed money for Obama's first run for office. He bundled over a quarter-million dollars for Obama's many campaigns, before he was finally indicted. In 2008, the talk was all about a curious land purchase Rezko made through his wife, which smoothed the way for Obama to buy a beautiful home next door. 
Nov. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Antoin “Tony” Rezko, the former campaign fundraiser for President Barack Obama and ex-Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, was sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison for his role in a kickback scheme.

"You were engaged in a very, very serious offense, Mr. Rezko" the judge said as she imposed the sentence. Several family members called out 'we love you" to Rezko as he was led away.
