Amillia Taylor shouldn't be alive. She was born at less than 22 weeks - in the US, where babies aren't considered 'viable' until 23 weeks.

And one ACLU member in California has said, in a letter to me, that “no one can say with authority when life begins, but since we know that identity begins at conception, we’re obliged to give the benefit of the doubt.”

An examination by the New York Times has found that 85 percent of prenatal blood tests for rare chromosomal disorders provided false positive results to expectant mothers. On average, only 15 out of every 85 tests came back with accurate information on their child’s genetic make-up, potentially leading many mothers to abort perfectly healthy children...

More than a third of mothers across the United States may have been told, falsely, that their children would be born with syndromes like DiGeorge, 1p36, Cri-du-Chat syndrome, Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, Turner syndrome, and Prader-Willi and Angelman syndromes. In the case of Prader-Willi syndrome, 90 percent of positive tests were false.

The 15th week is an important point in the development of the unborn child, as demonstrated by the following dozen facts compiled by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, based on peer-reviewed, fact-based research:

• By 15 weeks of pregnancy, every major organ has grown and most are functional.
    ○ The heart pumps 26 quarts of blood per day.
    ○ Intestines have started the lifelong contractions that propel food through the digestive system.
    ○ The kidneys already filter toxins.
• The unborn baby prefers sucking his right or left thumb.
    ○ By studying ultrasounds, scientists have determined that 85% of unborn babies prefer moving their right hand over their left hand. About 85% of adults prefer their right hand, too.
    ○ If a twin, the unborn baby moves more gently when reaching toward her twin’s face.
• The baby responds to taste.
    ○ Flavors from the mother’s food seep into the amniotic fluid, peaking after about 45 minutes.
    ○ If the amniotic fluid tastes sweet because of an injection of saccharin, the baby swallows more fluid. If the amniotic fluid tastes bitter, the baby swallows less.
• The baby’s heart has already beat approximately 15,800,000 times.
    ○ A baby’s heart starts beating about 22 days after fertilization.
    ○ In total, a baby’s heart beats about 54 million times between conception and birth.
• The baby’s body responds to both touch and pain.
    ○ The baby responds to light touches over most of the body.
    ○ If something touches the palm of the baby’s hand, the baby will bend his or her fingers as if to grasp the object.
    ○ Neurotransmitters specific to pain processing appear between 10 and 14 weeks’ gestation. The spinal nerves needed to transmit pain to the thalamus have formed by 15 weeks’ gestation.

“Forty-one years ago, that couple could have made the choice to abort, but they didn’t. They chose life,” she said, referring to herself. “I’m certain that this couple would never have thought that that child would become the first female, black, Republican member elected to Congress.”

Human life begins in bright flash of light as a sperm meets an egg, scientists have shown for the first time, after capturing the astonishing ‘fireworks’ on film. An explosion of tiny sparks erupts from the egg at the exact moment of conception.

Scientists had seen the phenomenon occur in other animals but it is the first time is has been also shown to happen in humans. Not only is it an incredible spectacle, highlighting the very moment that a new life begins, the size of the flash can be used to determine the quality of the fertilised egg.

A baby born three months premature was so small that doctors put her into a Tesco sandwich bag to keep her warm. Pixie Griffiths-Grant weighed just 1.1lbs when she was delivered by emergency C-section at 28 weeks but her weight quickly fell to less than 1lb minutes after birth...

Pixie, who was lighter than half a bag of sugar and smaller than her mother's hand, was rushed to intensive care, where doctors expected her to survive for less than an hour. But she defied the odds and is now at home at five months old.

“You can’t stand on the sidelines, especially now that you’ve seen these videos,” she told me recently.

“That’s bullshit! These are babies that are being killed. Millions of them. And you need to use your voice to protect them.

A study conducted by a team of Spanish researchers has shown that fetuses in the womb can start to hear and respond to the voices around them as early as 16 weeks. The researchers came to the conclusion based on their observation of the reaction of the fetuses to the music played outside the womb of the mother...

During the study, the researchers exposed the babies to the effective and distortion-free music with the help of a musical tampon inside the mother's vagina. The team captured a series of 3D images showing fetuses responding to the music.

Bernard Nathanson: Embrace Life...

One-time notorious abortion doctor and key architect of the abortion movement, Dr. Bernard Nathanson, is speaking from the grave. His message: Embrace life.

Over the weekend, author Terry Beatley spoke at a local right-to-life event here in South Florida. Beatley had met with Nathanson in 2009 (about a year before he died), and he gave her a charge to continue spreading the pro-life message.

He told her, “teach the strategy of how I deceived America” to accept abortion.

Robin Barton shares a bond like no other with retired Santa Ana police officer Michael Buelna. "I hoped that someday I would see him again," Buelna said. The two first met 25 years ago when Barton was just four hours old, in what some would call a miracle encounter. It was Nov. 21, 1989 and Buelna was on duty in Santa Ana.

"It was like a sound of a very low meow, like a cat or something," Buelna said, referring to a sound coming from behind a garbage dumpster. Buelna started moving trash around and then made the shocking discovery. "I noticed the umbilical cord and he was covered, he still had all the mucus and stuff and all the trash and gravel was sticking to him," Buelna said. "I tried to give him a tiny little bit of breath and he reacted a little bit."

The baby weighed just four pounds, two ounces. Buelna named him "Adam".

My life is a miracle and I would be selfish to keep this GIFT of life to myself. I want to tell everyone what a gift I and even they have been given!! I want to encourage them to seek alternatives to abortion because I would never want any woman/man to go through the grief and the pain that my birth mother went through simply because she didn’t know she had any other option.

My job with to hold the ultrasound probe on the woman’s abdomen so he could see what was going on during the abortion, and I watched a 13 week old baby fight and struggle for his life during that abortion procedure, and I knew then that I had been lied to.

I knew that because of that, I had, in turn, lied to thousands of women who had come through my facility.

Being without theology isn't the slightest hindrance to being pro-life. As any obstetrics manual— Williams Obstetrics, for example—points out, there are two patients involved [in pre natal care], and the one not yet born "should be given the same meticulous care by the physician that we long have given the pregnant woman."

Nor, biologically, does it make any sense to draw life-or-death lines at viability. Once implantation takes place, this being has all the genetic information within that makes each human being unique. And he or she embodies continually developing human life from that point on.

It misses a crucial point to say that the extermination can take place because the brain has not yet functioned or because the thing is not yet a "person." Whether the life is cut off in the fourth week or the fourteenth, the victim is one of our species, and has been from the start.

After extensive adjustment for confounding, other pregnancy outcomes, and sociodemographic differences, abortion was consistently associated with increased risk of mental health disorder. Overall risk was elevated 45% (RR 1.45, 95% CI 1.30-1.62, p. < .0001). Risk of mental health disorder with pregnancy loss was mixed, but also elevated 24% (RR 1.24, 95% CI 1.13-1.37, p. < .0001) overall. Birth was weakly associated with reduced mental disorders...

Evidence from the United States confirms previous findings from Norway and New Zealand that, unlike other pregnancy outcomes, abortion is consistently associated with a moderate increase in risk of mental health disorders during late adolescence and early adulthood. -Donald Paul Sullins

Her name is May Lynn and she has a story. She was my daughter, murdered by me via abortion at 24 weeks. In light of these Planned Parenthood videos I want to share her story.

Hardly anyone knew and the few people that did, I lied to, never admitting that her blood was on my hands. I couldn’t even admit it to the hospital staff. I told everyone (only a handful of people) it was just a crazy misfortune.

She changed everything for me. Now I knew I had been lied to. Now I knew regret. Now I knew what I had done. I was a murderer. The heavy guilt of that hit me like a freight train.

It hit me the hardest when I woke up in the hospital bed with her in my arms and she was warm from my own body heat and for a moment I could pretend that I hadn’t done what I had done…. until I couldn’t pretend any more.

It hit me again when I called and begged the funeral home to unseal her casket so I could hold her one last time. Those precious, tiny fingers. That soft skin and tiny little mouth. Every time I hold my other children… but never her…

It hit me again when I buried her with only one person there to comfort me, my closest confidant who still didn’t even know what I had done.

It hit me again when I woke up in my car in the cemetery...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A first birthday is a milestone event for any family — but Eliora "Ellie" Schneider's first birthday might be a miracle.

The Kansas City-area girl was born after 21 weeks. The normal pregnancy is 40 weeks. Doctors told 41 Action News babies born that early have a very slim chance of surviving.

But one year later, Ellie's mother, Robin, said you'd never know Ellie was the size of a soda can when she was born. The 1-year-old can sit up on her own, is starting to crawl, and only uses an oxygen machine when she sleeps, instead of all the time.

"She had all the odds stacked against her," explained Dr. Barbara Carr, a neonatologist with Mednax working at Saint Luke's Hospital. "She had parents that had a very deep faith. They just continued to believe, we all kept working on and continuing to believe in her and she did well."

It is a baby.
