Idaho’s legislators were awakened to the demise of higher education by two reports, co-authored by Dr. Scott Yenor of the Claremont Institute and me, on the University of Idaho and Boise State. These reports showed Idaho’s public universities, like virtually all of America’s colleges and universities, have abandoned educational excellence in favor of the social justice agenda.
This indoctrination has been infused into the administration, hiring, curriculum, and residence life on college campuses.
-Anna K. Miller
Social-justice ideology is turning higher education into an engine of progressive political advocacy, according to a new report by the National Association of Scholars.
Left-wing activists, masquerading as professors, are infiltrating traditional academic departments or creating new ones—departments such as “Solidarity and Social Justice”—to advance their cause.
They are entering the highest rung of college administration, from which perch they require students to take social-justice courses, such as “Native Sexualities and Queer Discourse” or “Hip-hop Workshop,” and attend social-justice events—such as a Reparations, Repatriation, and Redress Symposium or a Power and Privilege Symposium—in order to graduate.

The current anti-racist frenzy is the product of a poisoned academic culture that has declared war on Western Civilization and that teaches students, more than anything else, how to hate—to hate the greatest accomplishments of our civilization, to hate America, and to hate one another.
We continue to play with fire.

Before classes even began at The College of New Jersey, lessons were underway for new students, who were told at a recent mandatory new student orientation event that rugged individualism is a myth, Fox News hosts are backward and bigoted, and white people are mentally weak.
All that plus America “was never really such a great place for millions of people.”

Education, as opposed to indoctrination, requires people to have the freedom to test out new ideas and question existing orthodoxies. Two Roosevelt University professors who also serve on the Oak Park and River Forest High School school board were caught on an open Zoom call bragging about how they promote Marxist re-organization of American society to their college students.
Talking before the start of OPRF's Feb. 26 board meeting on a live microphone, Gina Harris and Ralph Martire said they were proud to advocate for so-called "social justice" Marxist economic concepts.
“I mean, it’s all social justice. All day, every day, I get to talk about the things I love. I’m really living the life over here,” Harris said.
She called social justice “a part of everything," adding that she was teaching "middle school theory and practice" to future K-12 teachers at Roosevelt.
Martire, a Roosevelt professor of public policy and public administration, said the way he views government budgets is through a lens on how use them to "organize society."

Universities routinely tell students to read books that advance left-wing ideology on issues such as social justice and class warfare.
The College Fix reports that a new study published in late May from the National Association of Scholars (NAS) documents just how books deemed written by “dead white authors” have been replaced with political tomes designed to indoctrinate students...
“The themes register most strongly the common reading genre’s continuing obsession with race, as well as its infantilization of its students, its middlebrow taste, and its progressive politics.” Students were told to read books about African-American, Latin-American and Muslim characters.

A university in the United States has begun offering classes in “constructive male allyship,” providing a space where male students are able to “question and deconstruct toxic masculinities.” Duke University, based in the city of Durham, North Carolina, held its first Learning Community session last week. The women’s centre has organised a nine-week series of seminars, as part of the Duke Men’s Project.

Oregon State University reportedly plans to force all students to take a “social justice training” beginning in the fall of 2016. “This training initiative is intended to provide all students entering Oregon State University an orientation to concepts of diversity, inclusion and social justice and help empower all OSU students to contribute to an inclusive university community.”
Required Multiculturalism Course: Indoctrination of White Males...
I teach these classes to mostly 22–28-year-old, white, cisgender, heterosexual, able-bodied, middle-class students during their second year in a two-year, cohort-based graduate programme.
When students begin my courses, they have already completed a required Multiculturalism course, taught by my mentor who is a full professor and identifies as a black, cisgender, heterosexual, woman.
For many students in the master’s programme, the Multiculturalism course provides their first awareness of privilege – white privilege, male privilege, able-bodied privilege, cisgender privilege, heterosexual privilege, social class privilege and Christian privilege.
Political Action as Education...
Heeding the call of the #BlackLivesMatter movement and global network, this course joins the nationwide effort to deconstruct anti-Blackness, dismantle white supremacy, center Black resistance and build solidarity movements that support the wellness and self-determination of Black communities.
By succeeding in their “long march” through higher education, today’s progressive professors and administrators have created an academic environment, abetted by vaguely written anti-discrimination laws, that internalizes censorship through shaming, intimidation, and threats of legal sanction. The effect is the same as the more brutal techniques of totalitarian states: dissent is driven off campus, making it easier for progressives to indoctrinate and mold to their own ends the susceptible and undeveloped minds of students. -Bruce Thornton

White college students are undergoing a weekly “deconstructing whiteness” program at Northwestern University. Students enrolled chose to do so – it is voluntary.

White students in Professor John Streamas’s “ Introduction to Multicultural Literature” class, are expected to “defer” to non-white students, among other community guidelines, if they want “to do well in this class.”... Streamas—who previously generated controversy by calling a student a “ white shitbag” and declared that WSU should stand for “White Supremacist University”—also demands that students “understand and consider the rage of people who are victims of systematic injustice.”

It notes that the Cubans “devote a significant amount of resources to targeting and exploiting U.S. academia.”

A Very Beautiful and Simple Myth
Growing up at nice lefty, wildly expensive private schools, I learned history as a series of progressive triumphs over conservative intolerance.
It made me happy to know that was how the world unfolded. It made me happy to know I’d be on the righteous side. It made me happy to know that the good team would win out. Each day is better than the last, and the path forward is always clear.
Religious schooling does not impart that message. It can’t. The Bible’s myths are all about chaos and complexity, sin and redemption, destruction and forgiveness, cowardice and courage, idiocy, luck.
To instill blissful confidence in me, the educational system had to downplay or ignore leftist failure. Secular, liberal Americans like me are taught a very beautiful and simple myth. It goes a little like: every progressive program that has failed or caused suffering didn’t do so because of some flaw in the plan or some misunderstanding of human nature. It failed because of forces on the wrong side of history.
This is how the system popped me out, at 22 years old, with only the vaguest knowledge of why the Soviet Union was a disaster.

UCLA has found a novel way to improve the politicization of its curriculum. UCLA Today, the faculty and staff newspaper, reports that the university’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability and the Sustainability Committee have teamed up to help faculty members across the university figure out ways to slip sustainability messages into their classes, regardless of the actual subjects they are teaching. Participating faculty members get a two-hour workshop and a $1,200 grant to turn their courses into vehicles of sustaina-ganda. The newspaper account highlights political science professor Miriam Golden who is using the extra money to change reading lists, data sets, homework assignments.
