The Service Employees International Union settled on paying close to a $200,000 fine for illegally funneling millions in contributions into a 2012 Michigan ballot campaign over collective bargaining for home health workers. Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson charged the SEIU with a whopping $199,000 fine for committing several campaign finance violations in laundering $9.36 million in campaign contributions through a nonprofit corporation to support the passage of state Proposal 4 in 2012.

Mariam Noujaim shook her head at the things her labor union had spent money on, from a $300 meal at Sacramento's Kru restaurant to the Holiday Inn conference room where she spent four hours Tuesday reading some of the organization's financial records.They rattled off hotel expenditures by SEIU Local 1000 leaders, at locales ranging from Dallas to Pebble Beach. They did not know why the trips occurred. They pointed to restaurant expenditures from the lavish to fast food. Several times, Noujaim said rental of a private conference room rather than SEIU offices was a prime example of union waste. "They splurge with our money, they travel with our money, they go all over," Noujaim said. "Why do they need to do all of this?"

A Marion County Circuit Court judge has found the state’s largest public sector union in violation of Oregon nonprofit laws and ordered a meeting of members, tentatively set for August. Judge Dennis Graves issued a ruling June 26 that said Service Employees International Union Local 503 had violated the Oregon Nonprofit Corporation Act in four ways.

The former president of California’s largest union local was found guilty by a federal jury in Los Angeles on Monday of stealing from the low-wage workers he represented. Tyrone Freeman, who led Local 6434 of the Service Employees International Union, was convicted on 14 criminal counts, including embezzlement of union funds, violating tax laws and mail fraud. As president of SEIU Local 6434 -- the second-largest SEIU chapter in the nation -- Freeman, 43, represented 160,000 low-wage healthcare workers who cared for the elderly and people with disabilities.
The union says 400 workers were left without a contract when LAX contractor Aviation Safeguards (AVSG) broke its agreement with the airport earlier this year. However, 52 percent of union workers voted to switch to Aviation Safeguard from SEIU nearly a year ago for what they say are better benefits. “As far as the union, they keep intimidating us. They keep pushing us to go with them, but we are not part of them. We don’t want to do anything with them,” worker Martin Storm told CBS2’s Kara Finnstrom. “We are actually getting paid a lot better, and I have better health insurance than I did with the union.”
With ex-SEIU boss Andy Stern having taken credit for the passage of the monstrosity known as ObamaCare, the irony of an SEIU-represented hospital cutting 10% of its full-time staff, in part, due to ObamaCare is rich.

Prosecutors believe a Service Employees International Union (SEIU) organizer fraudulently voted in a 2011 election in Wisconsin, according to documents provided to the Daily Caller by the Wisconsin-based government watchdog group Media Trackers. An investigation by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office has led to a subpoena of SEIU’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and has implicated the prominent labor union in a voter fraud case that threatens to lead to criminal prosecution.

Gonzalez doesn't expect the SEIU to let her or about 1,000 workers in the Department of Social Services leave the union without a fight. "They're going to invest whatever money they're going to invest to keep us in this marriage. And what's sad is they're probably going to be using our money to fight us. They'll be using our dues to fight us," Gonzalez said. But after a nine-percent pay cut and union-organized 'walk-off the job' in January, Kandy says they've had enough.

Not long ago, Tyrone Freeman was a rising young star in the national labor movement, already the head of California’s biggest union local and a force in Democratic politics from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C... On Tuesday, however, Freeman was indicted on federal charges of stealing from those workers to enrich himself, including by billing the union for costs from his Hawaii wedding. The 15-count indictment secured by the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles also alleges that Freeman violated tax laws and gave false information to a mortgage lender. If convicted on all counts, he could face maximum prison sentences in excess of 200 years.

On Wednesday, Milwaukee Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf issued a search warrant for Florida SEIU organizer Clarence Haynes declaring there is “probable cause that Mr. H [Clarence Haynes] voted without the proper qualifications as an elector when he cast a ballot on April 5, 2011.”

SEIU organizer Todd E. Stoner from Freehold, New Jersey, used same-day registration to cast a ballot in the April 5, 2011 spring election in Wisconsin. Stoner, like Thompson, still has an active voter registration in New Jersey.

He shouted at me, “What kind of nigger are you?!” Then, he grabbed my board, so I quickly grabbed it back, then the man punched me in the face and charged at me . I put my hands up to block the second blow from the large man, when two other people from that group grabbed me and threw me to the ground and started punching and kicking me. I was kicked in the head and in the back, legs and buttocks. Then a white woman ran up to me while I was on the ground and began kicking me in my head as well. A few people came to my rescue for which I am forever grateful.
