Obamacare

No one intended for premium prices to skyrocket and for millions of people to lose their policies or for the majority of the American public to be unhappy with the program and its results, but that is what happened. -Kevin D. Williamson

The Affordable Care Act has not worked as advertised. That is the fundamental fact around which the debate should be organized.

The ACA did not result in lower premiums but in the opposite; it did not result in more competitive insurance markets but in the opposite; it did not result in superior health-insurance plans but, at least in many cases, the opposite; it has not resulted in universal coverage.

Among the major promises made on behalf of the ACA, only one of any significance has been delivered on: It is the case that more Americans have health insurance today than they did in 2009. But the ACA has underdelivered on that point, too: Only about 16.5 million people — barely 5 percent of the population — gained health coverage from the passage of the ACA through 2016, and the vast majority of those, 81 percent, were new Medicaid beneficiaries.

  It does not work.

-Kevin D. Williamson Go To Site

Of course, Obamacare failed to achieved most of Obama’s other promises.

It has done nothing to slow, much less reverse, the rising cost of health care. In fact, Obamacare itself caused premiums in the individual market to more than double in its first four years.

For millions of those who aren’t eligible for Obamacare subsidies, health care has been priced out of reach. Obamacare plans carry not only high premiums but also huge deductibles, and most are heavily restricted HMO plans with extremely limited provider networks.

The review found the credits went to more than 500,000 people – who are illegal immigrants or whose legal status was unclear due to insufficient records.

2021: ObamaCare Still Failing The Sick...

ObamaCare has made health insurance so expensive, Democrats have determined that even individuals making more than $100,000 per year and households making more than $200,000 per year require subsidies to help them afford ObamaCare coverage.

ObamaCare is also failing the sick. A recent study in the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy found that under ObamaCare, even "currently healthy consumers cannot be adequately insured."

Last year, the letter said my Bronze plan, purchased on the marketplace formed by the, ahem, Affordable Care Act, would increase by almost 60 percent.

This year, my premium is going up 96 percent. Ninety-six percent. My monthly payment, which was the amount of a decent car payment, is now the size of a moderate mortgage. The president refers to these for thousands of citizens as “a few bugs” when to us it feels like a flameout.
