In 2000, for example, an NAACP ad recreated the gruesome murder of James Byrd to imply that then-Gov. Bush was sympathetic to lynching black men. Over footage of a chain being dragged by a pickup truck, Mr. Byrd’s daughter says, “So when Gov. George W. Bush refused to support hate-crimes legislation, it was like my father was killed all over again.” - William McGurn
The nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh will threaten the lives of millions of Americans for decades to come and will morph our Supreme Court into a political arm of the right-wing Republican Party.

California Gov. Jerry Brown said all climate-change deniers are "definitely contributing" to the fatal wind-whipped wildfires that have pummeled northern and southern parts of the state over the past few days, as well as blazes "in the coming years."...
"And we have to keep understanding it better, but we're in a new abnormal. And things like this will be part of our future... things like this and worse," he warned.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said Tuesday that senators who don’t oppose President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are “complicit in the evil.”
Booker, speaking at a press conference with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and religious and moral leaders, said that Kavanaugh’s nomination “has nothing to do with politics” but with “who we are as moral beings.”
“I’m here to call on folks to understand that in a moral moment, there is no neutral. In a moral moment, there is no bystanders,” he said. “You are either complicit in the evil, you are either contributing to the wrong, or you are fighting against it.”

This morning, the Latino Victory fund unveiled a new ad portraying a black pickup truck with a Confederate flag, an Ed Gillespie bumper sticker, and a Gadsden flag license plate chasing and attempting to run down minority children.
The ad closes with footage of the torch-carrying hate rally in Charlottesville, and a female announcer asks, "Is this what Donald Trump and Ed Gillespie mean by the American dream?"

Hillary Clinton said Monday on Bloomberg News that President Donald Trump has "tendencies toward authoritarianism," adding that she hopes he has not "ordered the killing of people and journalists" as Russian President Vladimir Putin has been accused of doing.
When you say that anything George Bush has done is akin to what Hitler did, you make the Holocaust into nothing more than an example of partisan excess. Tax cuts are not genocide, as so many Democrats have suggested over the years. -Jonah Goldberg

As Montel Williams appeared on Friday's CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin to discuss his recent USA Today article attacking Republican plans to repeal ObamaCare, the former talk show host accused congressional Republicans of not caring about their own family members and of supporting a plan that would send their relatives and 140 million other Americans to "death."

Students at Duquesne University are petitioning their school to reconsider a plan to bring Chick-fil-A to campus, arguing the fast-food restaurant’s support for traditional marriage would create an unsafe environment for gay students. Niko Martini, a student senator at the Pittsburgh university, filed a petition with the student government asking the school to reconsider the inclusion of Chick-fil-A in its Options Food Court.

The country made a mistake and I think the next mistake might very well be the gas chamber and what happened to Jews [under] Hitler is not too far from our door. -Harry Belafonte
The American left has demoted Hitler. He no longer is a monster who killed 12 million people in concentration camps. He no longer is an anti-Semitic demagogue who wiped out two-thirds of the Jewish population in Europe. He no longer is a savage dictator who invaded every adjacent nation in an attempt to rule the world.
By calling the last four Republican presidential nominees Hitler, Democrats have turned Hitler into someone we merely disagreed with.
The Los Angeles Times ran a piece that is demonstrated just what is wrong with today's ramped up rhetoric. The headline read, "Call immigrant detention centers what they really are: concentration camps."
No. That is a lie. The centers are nothing like concentration camps. No one is tattooed with a number. No one is worked to death. No one is sent to gas chambers. There are no mass cremations in fact there are no cremations at all.
Running that piece was irresponsible because it downplays the evil that Hitler and his nation did.

Barack Obama has warned of the fragility of American democracy, making reference to the rise of Nazi Germany in the 1930s.
Speaking during a question and answer session at the Economic Club of Chicago on Tuesday, the former US president warned against growing nativism in America. “We have to tend to this garden of democracy or else things could fall apart quickly,” Mr Obama said.
He went on to compare the situation to Germany in the 1930s where, despite a long history of high-level cultural and scientific achievements (and the existence of a functioning democracy), Adolph Hitler nonetheless rose to power, reported Crain’s Chicago Business.
“Sixty million people died,” he added. “So, you've got to pay attention. And vote.”

Democratic representative James Clyburn said Wednesday that the United States is moving closer to Nazi Germany with a Hitler-like Donald Trump at the helm. “We are approaching a place that we’ve been before,” Clyburn said on CNN, indicating that he thinks the country is on the path toward Nazi Germany.
“We remember from our studies what happened in the 1930s in Germany,” he said. “I told a business group down at Hilton Head several weeks before the election, that what I saw coming was a replay of what happened in Nazi Germany.”
Trump Might Bring Back The Gas Chambers...
"The country made a mistake and I think the next mistake might very well be the gas chamber and what happened to Jews [under] Hitler is not too far from our door."
"The thing is, we have to really reach out to those who might consider voting for Trump and say, “This is Goebbels. This is the final solution. If you are voting for him I will have to shoot you before election day.” They’re not going to listen to reason, so when justice is gone, there’s always force, as Laurie would say."

A Fake Patina of Morality and "Science"...
If you challenge climate change alarmism, you're a denier of science. If you believe Obamacare is flawed policy, you support killing poor Americans. If you support tax cuts, you're a pawn of the plutocracy.
There is a perfunctory reaction for every issue; a prefabricated smear devised just for the occasion.
Every one is meant to circumvent debate while imbuing the Left's position with a (fake) patina of morality and "science."

"And I'm worried. When he institutes internment camps and suspends habeas, we'll all look back and feel pretty bad."
