Joining top officials from across the globe, the Premier of Quebec wrote about the dangers of academic ideologies from the United States and promised to protect free expression.
In a Feb. 13 statement, Premier Francois Legault wrote that “a handful of radical activists can be seen trying to censor some words and works” in academia.
“We see a movement coming from the United States and frankly, I don't think it's like us,” he explained. “What's really disturbing is that more and more people are feeling intimidated. They feel forced to self-censure, lest they get insulted and expose in the public square.”
DePaul University will no longer allow students to chalk political messages on the sidewalks of its campus because of the “offensive, hurtful, and divisive” nature of pro-Trump chalking found on campus last week.
[S]tudents are children. Not in terms of age, but in terms of maturity. Even in college, they must be protected like children while being prepared to be adults

The top digital journalism professor at Columbia University recently called for some center-right news outlets to be censored in the name of cracking down on misinformation.

Sources familiar with the situation told Campus Reform that the dean's employment had been terminated just days after her "everyone's life matters" email.

Tolerance for other people’s ideas and the freedom to express your own are inseparable values. Joined, they form a sacred trust that holds the basis of our democratic society. But that trust is perpetually vulnerable to the tyrannical tendencies of monarchs, mobs and majorities.
And lately, we have seen those tendencies manifest themselves too often, both on college campuses and in our society.
