Joining top officials from across the globe, the Premier of Quebec wrote about the dangers of academic ideologies from the United States and promised to protect free expression.
In a Feb. 13 statement, Premier Francois Legault wrote that “a handful of radical activists can be seen trying to censor some words and works” in academia.
“We see a movement coming from the United States and frankly, I don't think it's like us,” he explained. “What's really disturbing is that more and more people are feeling intimidated. They feel forced to self-censure, lest they get insulted and expose in the public square.”

The top digital journalism professor at Columbia University recently called for some center-right news outlets to be censored in the name of cracking down on misinformation.
Professor Emily Bell, director of the Tow Center for Digital Media, said it is not an infringement of the First Amendment to audit and vet some news outlets to promote a “truthful news environment.”...
She added that the country needs to “rethink what public broadcasting is in the digital age” and “apply some pressure to the platform companies to allow much greater auditing.”

An education student at a university in New York was suspended after his Instagram posts were brought to the attention of the school’s administration. The school says education students have to abide by the rules of their profession, which include “protecting the mental and emotional well-being of all students.”
In one of the posts, Owen Stevens, a student at the State University of New York-Geneseo (SUNY-Geneseo), said “A man is a man, a woman is a woman. A man is not a woman and a woman is not a man.”

University of Massachusetts-Lowell Dean of Nursing Leslie Neal-Boylan issued an email on June 2 to the Solomont School of Nursing in light of the recent anti-racism demonstrations across the country, sources told Campus Reform. This sparked controversy among many who received her email. The letter was posted to Twitter by a student who expressed disappointment in the Dean’s "everyone’s life matters" statement.
“An upsetting statement made by the Dean of Nursing at UMass Lowell, including the statement ‘all lives matter’ was uncalled for and shows the narrow minded people in lead positions,” the tweet read.
This quickly caught the attention of the school, which replied from its official account thanking the student for "bringing this to our attention.’"
Sources familiar with the situation told Campus Reform that the dean's employment had been terminated just days after her "everyone's life matters" email.

Remove Conservative Classmate From Campus
Students at Point Park University are petitioning administrators to remove Logan Dubil, their conservative classmate from the school, after the undergraduate student appeared in media criticizing the university's “Misgendering, Pronoun Misuse, and Deadnaming Policy."
The Change.org petition, created by "Max," currently has 396 signatures.
"We need to remove Logan Dubil from campus as well as others like him who refuse to respect other people pronouns," the petition reads, referencing the university policy that requires students to classmates' preferred pronouns.

A State University of New York at Oswego administrator has reprimanded a conservative student for delivering an “uncomfortable” speech during an “Open Mic” event last month.
According to an email obtained by Campus Reform, the school’s Alcohol and Other Drug Program Coordinator, Trisha DeWolf, contacted student Nicole Miller on May 2, stressing that some Open Mic attendees were disturbed by her presentation criticizing liberal intolerance on campus...
“A few of our students were deeply hurt by some of your remarks (their words, not mine),” DeWolf continued. “Moving forward, there will be written guidelines for performers, which I hate to have to do.”
