A New York professor said it was good news Thursday that Democrats did not contribute money to help Republicans who had their window smashed.
City University of New York (CUNY) professor Angus Johnston was responding to an incident in which an individual threw bricks through the windows of the Republican Party’s Lincoln, Nebraska, office.

A woman was found guilty Monday of spraying fake blood on the steps of the Alexandria, Va., home of National Rifle Association lobbyist Chris Cox in January.
Patricia Hill, a sociology professor from Nebraska, was ordered to pay a $500 fine, not contact the Cox family, and stay 500 feet away from their home. If she does not comply, she could owe an additional $500.
She is also under a temporary restraining order that bars her from Cox’s wife’s business and from NRA offices in Virginia and Washington, D.C. And on Monday after court, Hill was served with a warrant for an additional vandalism charge, stemming from a similar incident in October.

A La Crosse man admitted throwing roofing nails into driveways of residents who supported Republican candidates after someone stole his lawn sign supporting a Democratic candidate, according to La Crosse police reports. Martin Sellers, 59, of 2126 Hoeschler Drive, told police he “has done some stupid things” during his arrest Sunday for criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct, reports stated.
Five homeowners on Lincoln Avenue, Ward Avenue, Elm Drive and Springbrook Way for three years reported nails in driveways. One homeowner reported eight incidents. Sellers said he periodically targeted driveways of homes that displayed signs supporting Republicans “out of anger for the political system,” reports stated.

A church marquee that displayed a message disagreeing with the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on same-sex marriage was spray-painted with graffiti this weekend. But the sign at Bisbee Baptist Church was quickly cleaned up to keep showing the message: “Just because something is legal doesn’t mean it’s right.” Pastor Freddie Matthews said he would like to talk to the person who spray-painted the sign early on July 4 with the phrase, “F--- 2 Your God We Love Gays!”

Denver police say some protesters poured red paint over the memorial dedicated to fallen police officers. The memorial is located in front of Denver police headquarters and lists the names of police officers who have died in the line of duty... [Denver Police Union President Nick] Rogers spoke exclusively to CBS4’s [Lauren] DiSpirito following the incident. He said officers monitoring the protest were told by their superiors to not to interfere and to let the vandalism happen.

In Chester County, Pennsylvania, police are investigating graffiti on a building before it was set on fire: “KILL ZIMMERMAN.” Firefighters were called to the scene of the fire at ProSigns, a company manufacturing commercial signs for business, and found that phrase spray-painted in red on the front of the building. The firefighters put out the fire without significant damage. The fire has been ruled arson.

Clinton Tarver has been serving hot dogs to hungry locals in downtown Lansing, Mich., for the last five years, but a brush this week with a pro-union protest literally upended his small business in a matter of minutes. During a protest against right-to-work legislation in Michigan's capital, Tarver’s catering supplies were destroyed when demonstrators tore down the tent where he was serving and trampled his gear. “I kept explaining that I was just here to do a job, that I wasn’t on anybody’s side, but when people started calling me racial slurs, my friend who works at the Capitol told me I had to get out of there, so I crawled out,” said Tarver, who is black.

A case of campaign vandalism is under investigation Friday in Alta Loma. Someone keyed the word “Obama” into two cars and slashed seats in another outside a residence that had Mitt Romney campaign signs. CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Rob Schmitt spoke to Ken Slown, owner of one of the keyed vehicles. Slown actually supports President Obama! He explained to Schmitt that he and his wife — both currently unemployed — are staying with her parents and it’s her parents who support Romney.

This action was done to disrupt the movement of trains carrying proppants used in natural gas fracturing.

Police are searching for the vandals who apparently torched more than a dozen campaign signs and American flags in a Howey-in-the-Hills veteran's yard. William Overbay said someone ignited the flags and signs, which supported Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, that he had lined along his yard. The vandals also painted a sign on his driveway reading "Obama for life," at his DuPont Circle home, Overbay said.

Vandals defaced a Sarasota County Republican Party anti-Obama billboard over the weekend in Venice, Florida, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Vandals this past weekend extensively damaged a Sarasota County Republican Party billboard with the message “Repeal Obama.” At about 8 a.m. Sunday, Sarasota GOP Chairman Joe Gruters said he received an email notifying him about the damage to the sign at the U.S. 41 Bypass and Center Road. Someone with a cutting instrument removed the word “Repeal,” the GOP's website address and its financial disclosure statement but left the word “Obama.”

A Southeast Portland church was vandalized early Tuesday, and a group calling itself the “Angry Queers” has reportedly taken responsibility. Stained glass and other windows were broken at the Mars Hill Church, 3210 S.E. Taylor St. “Neighbors of the church reported seeing several young adults in black masks throwing large rocks into the windows,” a church news release said. “Police stated that a bank in the area was also vandalized in the same way and that they believe the vandalism was planned ahead of time, most likely by an activist group.” This afternoon, KPTV FOX 12 reported it had received an email from someone using the name "Angry Queers" and claiming responsibility.

Crosses used in an antiabortion demonstration at George Washington University were defaced last week, and the school's College Democrats organization has apologized for the vandalism.

NAMPA — Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna's vehicle was vandalized overnight at his Nampa home and he and his family have received threats, he told police.
Idaho Education Association President Sherri Wood condemned the actions, saying that although the association may not agree with Luna's plan, it does not condone vandalism or threats.
