Cornell University altered the course description of a racially-segregated physical education course offered to students during the Spring 2021 academic semester after Campus Reform reached out for comment.

  The class, entitled “BIPOC Rock Climbing," was originally restricted to “people who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, or other people of color," before its description was edited to state that the class is “designed to enable Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, or other people of color underrepresented in the sport of rock climbing to learn the sport and to feel included and supported."

A private college in Pennsylvania is facing increased scrutiny this semester after barring a guest speaker critical of critical race theory from speaking on campus as well as hosting a series of events on racism that barred white people from attending...

  Nichole Gonzalez, dean of students and head of diversity, equity and belonging, did not respond to requests from The College Fix seeking comment. The incidents that sparked the concerns took place throughout the fall semester.

  In one, the college hosted workshops on racism Oct. 12, Oct. 21 and Nov. 2 that restricted white people from attending.

A state university in Massachusetts created racially segregated safe “processing spaces” for students to reflect on the “not guilty” verdict in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial.

  In an email sent out after the verdict, the Fitchburg State University Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness told students that space was being created for “the community to process” the not guilty verdict. The email lists spaces for “students of color” and “faculty of color” along with separate spaces for “white students” and “white faculty.”

  Fitchburg State also falsely claimed in the email that Rittenhouse killed two people who were “protesting the wrongful death of Jacob Blake” and that Rittenhouse “drove to Wisconsin with an automatic rifle.” Jacob Blake, however, is not dead...

  Kyle Rittenhouse also did not travel to Wisconsin with an automatic rifle according to evidence revealed during his trial. Nor did he transport his gun across state lines...

A Harvard University production of Macbeth includes “Black Out” dates when only “Black-identifying” audience members are allowed to attend.

  Harvard asked non-Black patrons not to attend the Oct. 29 performance of Macbeth in Stride, a spin of William Shakespeare's famous Scottish tragedy.

  “The Friday, October 29 performance of Macbeth In Stride is designated to be an exclusive space for Black-identifying audience members,” a statement on the university website reads. “For our non-Black allies, we appreciate your support in making this a completely Black-identifying evening. We invite you to join us at another performance during the run.”

The University of Colorado at Boulder is hosting monthly "BIPOC Identity" and "White Ally" meetups this semester that separate attendees based on race.

  Specifically, The "monthly meetups," which the Institute of Cognitive Science and the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences sponsors, comprise groups for "Black, Indigenous or other people of color" and another for "white allies/accomplices."

A new residence hall on the Western Washington University campus will provide what the university refers to as “Black Affinity Housing.”

  Set to open this fall, the affinity housing will be composed of 40 students who will occupy a section of the fourth floor of the new Alma Clark Glass Resident Hall, a recently constructed dorm building named in honor of the first black student to attend WWU...

  In deciding to offer the housing, WWU consulted with schools such as Stanford University, Cornell University and the University of Oregon, all of which already provide similar living environments for their students.

Beloit College, a small liberal arts college in Southern Wisconsin, has transformed a campus coffee shop into a gathering place for black students, according to the school’s website.

  In March, the private institution announced the Java Joint would be closed in order to become “a haven for Beloit College’s Black students.”...

  According to the school’s news release, the “idea to convert the former coffee shop into a gathering for Black students came out of the College’s anti-racism goals.”

A summer accounting program for high school students sponsored by several New York universities does not permit white students to apply...

  The “Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession” program — sponsored by the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Moynihan Scholarship Fund — will introduce 250 “promising underrepresented high school students” to the accounting profession...

  The online application for the program, however, does not include an option white students to apply. Although the application form includes options for Hispanic, Black, Asian, and Native American students, there exists no option for White students.

Bates College has announced a new residence hall, Empowering Young Minds (EYM), "for womxn of color and/or marginalized gender."

  The housing invitation will only be extended to “applicants who identify as womxn of color and non-binary students of color." The creators expect participants to build community by “sharing our intersectionality experiences.”

The State University at New York Geneseo has announced their newest addition the school’s Umoja House, a dorm "for students of color."

  The Umoja House Living Learning Community will open for the Fall 2021 semester. According to the Geneseo Umoja page, those living in the dorm will "support" students of color on campus by planning and hosting events, and will "examine the impact of social justice leaders and movements on current events."

As part of Michigan State University’s upcoming Spring Conference on Teaching, Learning and Student Success, officials will segregate participants based on their skin color to facilitate “affinity group” conversations, according to an email invitation to the event that states “There will be an affinity group for white folx and an affinity group for people of color.”

  The university states the needs for such racial segregation by noting it will “advance racial equity,” adding “there is work for white people and people of color to do separately and together.”

  “For white people, an affinity group provides time and space to work explicitly and intentionally on understanding white culture and white privilege and to increase one’s critical analysis around these concepts,” the invitation states.

A public university in Boone, North Carolina will soon open a residence hall intended for Black male students...

  "The Black Male Excellence Initiative (BMEI) will provide the opportunity for first-year Black male scholars living on campus to develop a greater sense of belonging and purpose, a strong AppState identity, and increased academic success...

  Appalachian State University pairs its Black Male Excellence Initiative program with a course titled Wakanda Warriors: Black Male Excellence, examining the “parallels of the movie Black Panther and how the warrior spirit is intertwined in Black males in higher education.”

  Wakanda Warriors, the university noted, is “restricted to members of the Black Male Excellence Residential Learning Community."

Since late June, the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services at New York University (NYU) has been working closely with a small, student-led task force to make racially segregated housing a reality in undergraduate student dorms.

  On July 20, Washington Square News, the weekly undergraduate student newspaper of NYU, published an article titled “Student-Led Task Force Calls for Black Housing on Campus,” in which they reported on the university’s willingness to help implement residential communities open solely to “Black-identifying students with Black Resident Assistants.”

  Since then, the university has officially given the project a green light, aiming to have NYU’s first segregated residential floor established by Fall 2021.

Students at both New York University and Rice University have demanded that their schools implement spaces on their respective campuses intended only for Black students.

  Washington Square Newsreported that a student-led task force called “Black Violets” created a petition demanding that NYU offer Black student-only housing. The petition has garnered more than 1,000 signatures...

  Other demands included “Black Programming” residential events, along with required bias training before students can reside in NYU housing.

Stanford University is pushing a separate physics course for minorities in hopes that it will result in more diversity among physics majors. A 2016 survey revealed Stanford’s physics department to be one of the “least diverse” departments within the institution, and the university has since embarked on a mission to resolve that supposed concern, according to a university news release.

  One step Stanford has taken is promoting a modified version of the standard Mechanics course, a requirement for physics majors, boasting “added support.”

  Stanford’s alternate version of this course, Physics 41E, boasts additional class time, as well as “learning assistants,” individuals with a “passion” for “education equity,” who are paid by the university to guide students through the difficult course.

This month and next dozens of universities across the nation, from private top-tier schools to public state institutions, will host segregated graduation ceremonies and celebrations for their black graduates...

  The popularity in offering these segregated graduations also seems to be growing. A new report by the National Association of Scholars that looked at 173 schools found that 76 of them, or 44 percent, offer such ceremonies.

  Many others also offer similar ceremonies for Latino or LGBTQ student populations. Harvard this year also debuted a “UndocuGraduation” for students in the country illegally.

Only women and transgender individuals will be allowed to compete in an April debate tournament hosted by the George Washington University Parliamentary Debate Society...

  “It is essential to create spaces where gender minorities can find support, meet mentors and peers and feel empowered by seeing successful women,” they claim. “The people who compete at the gender minority tournament are still going to be competing against men at dozens of other competitions throughout the year.”

  “Women and anyone who does not identify as cis male will be welcome to compete, and registration is no questions asked,” Cryer told Campus Reform.

Scripps College will be hosting a pool party Friday that only non-white people will be allowed to attend. Organized by Scripps’s Latinx group "Café con Leche," the event was announced via Facebook under the claim of being the “first ever POC [person of color] pool party in [Clare]mont.”

  The three-hour use of Scripps’ Sally Tiernan House Pool is aimed at the creation of “a safe space for 5C students that identify as POC to come together and build community,” and will be open to all students identifying as POC attending the Claremont Colleges...

  “Scripps College is committed to a policy of equal opportunity, and no differentiation will be made based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, veteran status, or the presence of a disability," the policy states.

North Carolina State University’s (NCSU) new multicultural director announced her plans to create a “women of color” exclusive housing option, according to a Thursday report. Nashia Whittenburg, the school’s director of multicultural student affairs, discussed her vision for the segregated housing in a Tuesday NC State News article, reported Campus Reform.

The University of Minnesota is banning white and straight students from a safe space on campus, according to a Thursday report.

  The school’s Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life hosts “Tongues Untied,” a space in which people can congregate to discuss the impact of sexuality, race and gender, according to Campus Reform. But not everyone is invited.

  “For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia; however, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color,” the space’s description reads.

Students at the University of Chicago are demanding racial segregation for incoming students of color during orientation week. They also want some serious construction to place on campus, including building a house for illegals students.

  The administration is taking the dictate very seriously, The College Fix reports. “We are reviewing and continuing dialogue,” university spokeswoman Marielle Sainvilus told the student news service via email. It’s just one of 50 demands issued recently by student groups to the university officials.

A student group at the University of Chicago has published a list of almost 50 demands, including the creation of six separate racially-themed academic departments and race-specific student housing.

  The coalition of student groups called “UChicago United” has urged the university to create a “Race and Ethnic Studies Department,” a “Black Studies Academic Department,” an “African Studies Department,” a “Caribbean Studies Department,” an “Asian American Studies Program,” in addition to a “Center for African and Caribbean Studies” and a “Latinx Affairs Office”...

  The group also seeks to force the establishment of “university-funded and run cultural houses, specifically a Black House, a Latinx House, and an Asian House.”

Black students at Harvard University are organizing a graduation ceremony of their own this year to recognize the achievements of black students and faculty members some say have been overlooked... Harvard joins a growing number of universities that have added graduation events for students of different ethnicities.

A student activist group at the University of Michigan is demanding campus officials provide them with “a permanent designated space on central campus for Black students and students of color to organize and do social justice work.”... The clamor for a segregated space for students of color to organize social justice efforts comes even as the public university builds a $10 million center for black students in the center of campus.

An Illinois college has restricted certain sections of a mandatory introductory course to black students.

  “While helping my son register for college at Moraine Valley Community College, we noticed that the required course College 101 has two sections limited to African-American students," one concerned parent told The Chicago Tribune. "He wants to know why there are not two sections limited to Asian-American students? How about Native American students?"

  This segregation of students by race seems odd, especially considering the course’s emphasis on diversity.

The Motley, a student run café on Scripps’ campus, has already held events exclusively for people of color, a form of segregation the guide justifies by asserting that some spaces are “harmful” for people of color, and that creating segregated safe spaces is simply “the least we can do” for non-white students.

  “Anger is a legitimate response to oppression,” the authors state in their letter to white people, “as is sadness, fear, frustration, exhaustion, and a general distaste or hatred of white people.”

The University of Connecticut is building a new residence hall that will segregate black people away from the general student population. The new, segregated, all-male residence hall at the taxpayer-funded, flagship state school will be called ScHOLA²RS House, reports Campus Reform.

Oregon State University will hold four racially-exclusive “Social Justice Retreats” focusing on “white privilege,” “microaggressions,” and “institutional racism” in the first month of 2016 alone. During the weekend of January 8-10, the university will have two retreats — one specifically for white students, “Examining White Identity in a Multicultural World,” and “Racial Aikido,” which is specifically for non-white students.

An organizer of a workshop for “queer” minorities scheduled at Brown University next week, defended plans to segregate participants by race, following a Campus Reform report that brought national media attention to the event. In a Facebook thread from March 20th, organizer Drew Heckman wondered why the segregation aspect had ignited such a firestorm.

In an ironic development, to say the least, protesters at the University of Missouri (MU) segregated themselves by race Wednesday night, having white students leave a gathering in order to create a “black-only healing space.”

  Supporters of the group Concerned Students 1950, which has spearheaded the protest movement at MU, assembled at the school’s student center Wednesday night for a meeting after a planned protest march was canceled due to bad weather. A group of employees at South Puget Sound Community College sent out an invitation to all 300 staffers. The "Staff, Faculty and Administrators of Color" encouraged employees to reply to the invitation to find out the confidential date and time of what was being called a "happy hour" to "build support and community" for people of color. The invite made it clear white people were not invited... “That space is not for white people,” she told KING-TV. “That space is for people of color.”
