President Biden appears to have broken his promise to stay in Afghanistan until every American is evacuated.

  Marine Corps Gen. Kenneth F. McKenzie Jr. announced Monday evening that the last of the U.S. troops stationed at the Kabul airport had left, completing the military’s drawdown in the country, even though hundreds of Americans likely remain.

  McKenzie, commander of U.S. Central Command, said some American citizens who wanted to leave Afghanistan remained in the country.

  "We did not get everybody out that we wanted to get out," he said...

  "That's what we're doing now, that's the path we're on. And I think we'll get there," he said. "If there's American citizens left, we're gonna stay to get them all out."

Hillary Clinton tweeted encouragement on Wednesday to a Maryland sixth-grader who chose to kneel during the Pledge of Allegiance at her middle school.

  The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate sent the tweet in response to a video post about Mariana Taylor, 11, who said she was disciplined by her teacher at Catsonville Middle School in Baltimore County, Maryland, after she chose to take a knee in protest during the pledge.

  "It takes courage to exercise your right to protest injustice, especially when you're 11!" Clinton said. "Keep up the good work Mariana."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave an impassioned speech Wednesday by knocking President Donald Trump over his comments and policies toward women.

  Then Cuomo was stung by his own comments as he derided Trump when he said, "We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great."

A Connecticut city official who came under fire just weeks ago for taking a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance once again knelt in protest on Monday.

  Haddam Selectman Melissa Schlag, a Democrat, first drew outrage when she took a knee on July 16 at a Board of Selectman meeting. Schlag then posted a letter on Facebook that defended her actions, saying she knelt due to "extreme sorrow" for the country under President Trump.

Minutes after the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency mistakenly sent a missile alert at 8:07 a.m. on Jan. 13 — terrifying residents and visitors across the state — some officials, such as Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), rushed to Twitter to reassure everyone it was a mistake.

  But one Twitter account was deafeningly silent for 17 minutes: that of Hawaii Gov. David Ige. Though Ige was informed by the state’s adjutant general that the alert was false two minutes after it was sent, he waited until 8:24 a.m. to tweet, “There is NO missile threat.” ...

  Ige’s answer: He couldn’t log in to Twitter.

  “I have to confess that I don’t know my Twitter account log-ons and the passwords, so certainly that’s one of the changes that I’ve made,” Ige said.

Democrats’ election outreach efforts to veterans may need to start with a refresher course on what U.S. troops look like. For starters, they don’t wear Polish military uniforms. Until Thursday, the Democratic National Committee’s “Veterans and Military Families” website had as its only picture a shot from White House photographers during President Obama’s visit to Warsaw in 2011... The Polish military’s White Eagle insignia was clear on the headgear of two of the veterans.

President Obama walked in late Sunday on a moment of silence being held by world leaders in Turkey to honor the victims of Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris. Reporters traveling with the president said Mr. Obama had not yet arrived when other world leaders at the G-20 conference in Turkey began their silent observance around a large conference table. Mr. Obama walked in after they had begun, and took his place next to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Democratic lawmaker Julia Brownley sent a political mailer to her constituents in late July featuring a woman wearing fake military attire and a German Luftwaffe insignia — apparently unaware that the costume was not an official uniform worn by U.S. personnel. Although it bears a fleeting resemblance to official attire worn by the U.S. Navy, no branch of the United States military wears a uniform like the one in the mailer. And the insignia on the cap is the symbol of the Bundeswehr Luftwaffe, Germany’s air force.

Vice President Biden, as he has become known to do, reportedly made a wildly inappropriate comment to the father who had just lost his hero son. Woods said Biden came over to his family and asked in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?”

A second Democratic campaign has been caught mistaking a foreign ship for a U.S. Navy vessel in images meant to brag on the candidate's devotion to the military. A month after the Democratic National Convention featured Cold War-era Soviet ships on a giant screen as a former Navy admiral representing the Obama campaign praised American veterans, the Democrat running for Senate in Connecticut featured a foreign sub in a television ad promoting his efforts to create jobs at the state's sub-maker, General Dynamics' Electric Boat of Groton.

On the last night of the Democratic National Convention, a retired Navy four-star took the stage to pay tribute to veterans. Behind him, on a giant screen, the image of four hulking warships reinforced his patriotic message. But there was a big mistake in the stirring backdrop: those are Russian warships. While retired Adm. John Nathman, a former commander of Fleet Forces Command, honored vets as America’s best, the ships from the Russian Federation Navy were arrayed like sentinels on the big screen above. These were the very Soviet-era combatants that Nathman and Cold Warriors like him had once squared off against. “The ships are definitely Russian,” said noted naval author Norman Polmar after reviewing hi-resolution photos from the event. “There’s no question of that in my mind.”
