As the Trump administration continues to face widespread backlash over its "zero tolerance" immigration policy, which has seen thousands of families separated at the southern U.S. border, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has said its workers have faced an increasing number of violent threats.
In one recent case, a DHS staffer found a burned and decapitated animal carcass left on their front porch, an agency official confirmed to Newsweek. In a memo to staffers on Saturday, Deputy DHS Secretary Claire Grady warned of an increase in the number of security threats against DHS employees, The Hill reported.

Federal authorities have arrested a man in Los Angeles for threatening Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission Ajit Pai’s family.
Markara Man, 33, was angry at Pai for repealing the Barack Obama administration's net neutrality regulations and sent threats in order to "scare" him, according to a Justice Department press release. Man is alleged to have included a framed picture of Pai’s family in one email, and in another he listed the locations of preschools in Arlington, Va., where Pai lives.
"I will find and kill your children," Man allegedly wrote.

National Rifle Association lobbyist Chris Cox says his house was splashed with fake blood — twice. Then, someone made a fake website for his wife’s interior design business, altering images of artwork to show photos of child gun violence victims...
“I don’t think the Cox family is getting enough social pressure,” said Gailey, a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who said. “People need to stop treating these predatory, sick people like they’re just a neighbor.”...

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted at his Bowling Green home on Friday afternoon, according to local news reports... Rene Albert Boucher, 59, was arrested and charged with one count of assault in the fourth degree. Paul, a Republican, suffered minor injuries in the attack...
A Facebook account that appears to be maintained by Boucher contains numerous anti-Donald Trump postings. On May 17, Boucher posted, “May Robert Mueller fry Trump’s gonads,” a reference to the former FBI director’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.
There are no postings on the account about Paul, though there are many others that criticize Republicans in general. Boucher shared one post from the Occupy Democrats account citing left-wing academic Noam Chomsky’s criticism of the Republican party.

NOM’s donor list, contained in a Form 990 Schedule B, which it is required by law to file with the IRS, was obtained in March 2012 by its chief political opponent, the Human Rights Campaign... In testimony before Congress, NOM chairman John Eastman accused the IRS of publicizing the list “to facilitate the intimidation of donors.” He talks of a “campaign of harassment and intimidation” against the organization’s financial backers that has included boycotts of their business, physical assault, and the vandalizing of private property.

However, the address was not only incorrect but belonged to David and Elaine McClain... Threats were sent via social media, as were odd notes sent to their doorstep. The couple was forced to leave their home temporarily for safety concerns. Lee eventually apologized and legally compensated them with an undisclosed amount. WFTV is now reporting the McClains are concerned about online threats again. They are worried about their safety when the verdict of the Zimmerman trial emerges.

Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco, who spoke at a news conference flanked by other county officials, said the Journal News' decision to post an online map of names and addresses of handgun owners Dec. 23 has put law enforcement officers in danger. "They have inmates coming up to them and telling them exactly where they live."

The names and addresses of about 170,000 handgun permit holders in Connecticut, now kept confidential by law, could be made public under a proposed bill that pits gun owners against would-be reformers in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 Newtown school massacre. The bill, introduced by Rep. Stephen D. Dargan, D-West Haven, co-chairman of the legislature's public safety committee, would make public the names and addresses of permit holders under Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act — and would reverse lawmakers' decision to protect that personal information from disclosure nearly two decades ago.

An animal rights activist, Camille Marino, has pleaded guilty to trespass and unlawful posting of a message with aggravating circumstances, The Detroit Free Press reported. Marino was arrested in May when she chained herself to the doors of the library at Wayne State University. She had been posting messages online in which she said that a Wayne State researcher who works with animals -- whom she named, listing his home and office addresses and phone numbers -- should be tortured.

A mailer sent to Oregon voters by the AFL-CIO warns that their voting history is a matter of public record, Breitbart.com reported Wednesday. "Your voting history is a matter of public record," the mailer declares, implying that the union can determine how people vote. "The reverse cover of the pamphlet features an historic photograph of a union strike, in which the worker in front is carrying a poster that reads: 'DO NOT CROSS OUR PICKET LINE,'" Breitbart News said.
In 2011, when the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and its sister union in the telecom industry, the IBEW, conducted their failed strike against Verizon, the unions targeted the company’s executives at their homes.

In the wee hours of March 7, 2009, David Jentsch was startled out of his sleep by the sound of an explosion. The UCLA professor ran outside to find his car engulfed in flames.
