A chef at a Silicon Valley restaurant has put out the word that patrons wearing “Make America Great Again” baseball cap are not welcome in his establishment and will not be served.

  J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, who describes himself in his Twitter profile as a full-time dad, feminist, and atheist, is a chef-partner of the Wursthall restaurant in San Mateo, California. He called the red MAGA hats "symbols of intolerance and hate" comparable to a swastika or white hood.

Professors at Columbia University want space to discuss their “distress” over Donald Trump’s election, saying they don’t know anyone who isn’t “chronically and deeply” upset by the result.

  In a letter to Columbia President Lee Bollinger, professors Robert Pollack and Letty Moss-Salentijn, the co-chairs of the Columbia Faculty Affairs Committee, say Trump’s election has cast a “malaise that sits like a fog over Columbia” that not even George Orwell’s classic 1984 can adequately address.

   “We know no one at Columbia who is not upset, chronically and deeply, since the election,” declare Pollack and Moss-Salentijn, who even go so far as to blame the result for recent student suicides.

An elite Upper East Side private school’s annual ice-skating party at Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park had to be canceled after parents refused to send their kids in protest of the president, sources said... Dalton’s PA president, LaMae DeJongh, declined to comment — but sources said the low attendance was due to rampant anti-Trump sentiment at the elite prep school, which boasts alumni such as CNN’s Anderson Cooper.

  “I think it is completely insane,” said one Dalton parent who disagrees with the protest. “Like him or not, it feels like a strange place for New Yorkers to protest. And sad that kids now have no skating party.”

  Another candidate said black Americans are now living with “justified fear” of being killed after Donald Trump was elected president. Raymond Buckley, the chairman for the New Hampshire Democratic Party, told a story about how, in the midst of “grieving” on Election Day, he received a call from his black niece, who feared for her life after Trump’s victory.

A visit from a plumber left ThinkProgress senior editor Ned Resnikoff “rattled” due to fear that the plumber may have voted for Donald Trump. Resnikoff stated his fears in a November Facebook post, a screenshot of which is now making the rounds on the Internet... “He was a perfectly nice guy and a consummate professional,” Resnikoff shared. “But he was also a middle-aged white man with a southern accent who seemed unperturbed by this week’s news.”

  “I have no real reason to believe he was a Trump supporter or an anti-Semite, but in my uncertainty I couldn’t shake the sense of potential danger,” he wrote. “I was rattled for some time after he left.”

The children of two Talladega College graduates have decided to return their deceased parents’ Doctoral degrees because of the school marching band’s decision to play at Trump’s inauguration. Peter, Don, and Viki Rasmussen penned a letter to President Billy C. Hawkins to explain their decision, asserting that their parents would not want the degrees if they knew the marching band would be performing for Donald Trump.

Coastal & Estuarine Ecology Professor Josh Drew published an open letter to his class in the wake of Donald Trump’s election victory advising them that if they feel “sick,” “tired,” or “need to check in with the communities that [they] hold dear,” they don’t have to show up for class.

  “Last night we saw a refutation of the values that this, and many other, universities hold dear – equality, thoughtfulness, scholarship, and a belief that sound decision making will triumph over the noise and clamor of demagoguery. Unfortunately we also saw that the historical legacies of racism, sexism, and ignorance, still run deep within large swaths of our country.”
